Tools: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; Paper & Pencil, Right Side of BrainZachary Pytlak draws from his experience and education in the field of communication design to help bring clear and creative solutions to the MetaFoundry design process.
Zak began his career at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Design in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2003, he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design, which focused extensively on the principles of information architecture, identity construction and user comprehension.
Some of his various client-based projects included designing a bus map for the Port Authority of Pittsburgh, proposing a signage system for Pittsburgh’s Schendley Park and designing an animation that plays on the Jumbo Tronduring Pirates’ games at PNC Park.
Upon graduating, Zak moved to San Francisco where he continued working as a freelance contractor specializing in identities and information design.
After completing a handful of projects for MetaFoundry, he was invited to become our information designer in 2005. Since then, Zak has designed brand identity systems, web interfaces, outdoor campaigns, collateral materials, and online and offline ads.
